“Meanwhile, we are working on increasing our market share in Russia, and we are succeeding,”” said the ambassador in an interview with RIA Novosti.

He added that South Africa currently ranks seventh in wine exports to Russia.

“”Now we have started exporting grapes, as South Africa is a major producer of grapes and, consequently, the largest exporter of wine,”” the ambassador said.

The diplomat noted that South Africa intends to expand its exports in other categories, such as fruits and vegetables.

“”We are increasing the share of citrus exports to Russia. We also export avocados, plums, mangoes. The second ship is already being loaded in Cape Town, and in February it will arrive in St. Petersburg, with the shipment of fruits on it being twice as large,”” he said.
