“Russia and Turkey have expressed their intention to expand cooperation between the two countries in key economic sectors. According to a statement posted on the website of the Russian government on Thursday, this was agreed upon following a meeting in Turkey between Deputy Prime Minister of Russia Alexander Novak and Turkish Trade Minister Mehmet Muş.
“”The parties noted that cooperation between Russia and Turkey is at a high level and continues to develop,”” the statement said.
As co-chairs of the Russian-Turkish Intergovernmental Commission, Novak and Muş discussed the developing cooperation between the two countries in transportation and logistics, industry and agriculture, and tourism. According to the Russian government’s press release, a particular focus of bilateral interaction is the energy sector, where the “”Turkish Stream”” and “”Blue Stream”” gas pipelines are functioning successfully, and the construction of the first Turkish nuclear power plant “”Akkuyu”” is ongoing. The parties expressed their intention to expand cooperation in key economic sectors following the meeting, the statement added.
Novak visited Turkey on a working visit, during which the sides, along with the participation of Presidential Aides Igor Levitin and Maxim Oreshkin, discussed key issues of bilateral interaction, according to the press service of the Russian government.
